100% flexible customization: This itinerary is a mature VIP reference plan. We recommend discussing your interests, preferences, and preferred rhythm with your travel consultant before departure so that the route and hotel style can be refined in greater depth.
A pressure-free wilderness experience: The intensity of activities such as horseback riding on the grasslands and walking in the desert can be tailored fully to your physical condition. Beginners are also welcome.
Unobtrusive candid photography service: Any travel photography arranged with the trip is designed to be light and unobtrusive, capturing your most genuine moments without turning the journey into a staged photo shoot.
Weather and itinerary protection: Wilderness travel is influenced by natural conditions. To protect both your safety and comfort, your guide may make minor adjustments to the sequence of visits or outdoor activities, such as camp dinner or the bonfire, depending on wind, sand, or rain. We will do our best to preserve the core experiences. Please note that complimentary items that cannot be arranged due to force majeure are non-refundable and not redeemable for cash.
Inner Mongolia has a very large day-night temperature range and strong UV exposure in the open landscape. Please use a smart layering system, bring a windproof outer layer, and apply rigorous sun protection.
Please carry your original passport with you at all times, as it is required for hotel check-in.
Although all accommodations are at a luxury standard, public restrooms and other basic roadside facilities in remote areas can still be relatively simple. We kindly recommend maintaining realistic expectations for travel through true wilderness settings.
Where is Inner Mongolia, and is it the same as Mongolia?
Inner Mongolia is in northern China and borders Mongolia. Both are part of the Mongolian Plateau and both preserve Mongolian grassland culture and nomadic traditions. For travelers, however, Inner Mongolia is far easier to access and makes a more convenient starting point for experiencing grasslands, desert landscapes, and nomadic culture.
Which city should I fly into?
For this route, we recommend arriving in Hohhot. For departure, you may choose Hohhot, Baotou, or Ordos according to your flight schedule.
If I go to Beijing first, is it convenient to continue to Hohhot?
Yes. The high-speed train from Beijing to Hohhot typically takes about 2 hours. There are also direct flights to Hohhot from major Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Which season is best for this trip?
Spring, summer, and autumn all work well. March to May brings crisp air; June to August is the classic and most comfortable season; and from September to November the light is softer and both the desert and grasslands feel quieter. Winter also has its own snowy beauty, but temperatures are significantly colder.
Do I need riding experience?
No. Basic instruction and time to get familiar with the horse will be arranged before departure, and the intensity of the ride can be adjusted flexibly according to each guest.
Will this trip be too tiring?
Overall, it is a short route with an unhurried pace. Both the grassland ride and the desert activities can be adjusted according to your stamina and interests, making it well suited to travelers who want to experience real nature without turning the trip into a rushed schedule.
What are the grassland gers like?
The grassland stay uses luxury gers with two guests per unit and a private bathroom. The idea is to leave the night to the grasslands and the stars while still ensuring a solid level of comfort.
Will the desert stay be too basic?
No. In June, July, and August, you will stay in a premium desert tent in the deeper desert, approximately 45 square meters in size, with air-conditioning and a private bathroom. In other months, the stay is in a desert resort hotel. Overall comfort is significantly higher than that of an ordinary camping ground.
What makes this 3-day version especially distinctive?
In a very short time, it naturally connects the grasslands, the old city, and the desert, so guests can truly stay on the grasslands, ride into the pasture, and then sleep in the heart of the desert while taking in sunrise, sunset, blue hour, and the stars.
What is the biggest difference between this route and a conventional Inner Mongolia trip?
This route places more emphasis on authenticity and atmosphere than on superficial sightseeing. Instead of taking a quick look at the grassland or desert and leaving, you truly stay on the grassland, ride into the pasture, and then experience the scale and nightfall of the dunes.
Is this product good for photography?
Very much so. The horseback riding, grassland sunrise, grassland bonfire, desert sunrise and sunset, blue hour, stars, and old-city craft scenes all offer excellent visual depth.
Will image recording affect the experience?
No. If photography is arranged, it is kept light and natural and will not interrupt the rhythm of the trip.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If strong wind or rain occurs, outdoor arrangements such as the grassland bonfire or desert camp activities may be moved to more suitable settings, but we will do our best to preserve the core experiences.
Can dietary needs be discussed in advance - for example, no lamb, vegetarian meals, or allergies?
Yes. If you have vegetarian requirements, food allergies, religious dietary restrictions, or other dietary needs, please let us know before departure and we will do our best to assist.
Is this a private tour, and can it be adjusted?
Yes. This route is designed primarily as a private small-group experience and can be adjusted moderately according to party size, pace, interests, and physical stamina.
What is the safest way to pay in Inner Mongolia?
The safest approach in Inner Mongolia is to prepare WeChat Pay, Alipay, and some RMB cash. Only some five-star hotels accept international credit cards such as Visa, so overseas cards should not be treated as the main payment method.
